The closest town, Paarl, is a 5 – 10 min drive from the farm and will easily satisfy any day-to-day shopping needs.
Belair abuts the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, so you can walk or mountain bike into the Reserve from the farm.
There are many other hiking and mountain bike trails in and around Paarl.
Belair is situated next door to Fairview Wine Estate (within walking distance) producer of a string of award winning wines as well as an ever-increasing string of hand made cheeses. The very popular Goatshed Restaurant serves a very good lunch every day of the week, in the original wine cellar.
One up is Seidelberg,with it’s range of wines and 2 restaurants under the oaks. Red Hot Glass, an international group of professional glass-blowers producing acclaimed art in their studio abutting the resataurant.
Then there is Landskroon, well known for it’s Gold medal Port.
Horse riding through the vineyards can be arranged.
